Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a session with you?

It’s super simple! Just head over to the contact form and fill it out with a few details about what you’re looking for. From there, we’ll pick a date that works for both of us, get a deposit sorted to lock it in, and I’ll send over a quick contract to keep everything clear and easy. Once that’s all done, you’re officially booked!

When should I book in my session?

The sooner the better—especially in the warmer months when things tend to book up fast! If you're thinking about a maternity session, the sweet spot is between 30 and 34 weeks when that beautiful bump is really showing but you're still feeling (hopefully!) pretty comfortable.

For newborn sessions, just let me know your due date so I can pencil you in and be ready. We’ll aim to do the shoot around a week to 10 days after bub arrives—this is usually the best time for those dreamy, sleepy baby shots. But honestly, if you'd prefer to take your time settling in as a new family (because let’s be real, newborn life is a wild ride), that’s totally okay too. We can still capture some absolutely gorgeous moments up to 3 months after your little one is born.

Just reach out when you’re ready, and we’ll make it all easy and stress-free!

When will my session take place?

For outdoor sessions, we usually shoot about an hour or two before sunset for that beautiful golden hour glow. In-home maternity or family sessions have more flexibility—just a couple of windows with light is all we need. For newborns, mid-morning around 10am works best, as it fits well with their nap schedule. I’m always happy to be flexible and work with your timing!

Where will the session take place?

Do you have a special spot that means something to your family—maybe a park you love visiting or somewhere that’s close to your heart? I have several beautiful options for outdoor sessions in the Western and Northern suburbs of Melbourne with stunning scenic backdrops. If you have somewhere further out in mind, I’m happy to travel—just note there may be a small travel fee depending on the distance.

But honestly, your home is the perfect place too! It doesn’t need to be Pinterest-perfect—your home is where your family’s story lives, and that’s what makes it one of the best setting for your photos. We will usually stay within 2 to 3 rooms commonly the master bedroom and living room and possibly a kids bedroom.

What should I wear?

For a timeless look, I recommend sticking with neutral colors—think soft pastels, jewel tones, or any color palette that feels cohesive. Flowy dresses, skirts, and a mix of textures always photograph beautifully. A combination of patterned pieces and solids works really well too, so the focus stays on you and not on clashing outfits.

Let’s move away from the “everyone in jeans and a white shirt” look, and instead let each person’s unique style shine through! No logos, lettering, or brand names though—those can date your photos.

For at-home or maternity sessions, I’d suggest avoiding black or very dark colors, as they can hide your gorgeous baby bump or blend too much with your surroundings. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident in what you're wearing. I want you to shine from the inside out!

When will we receive the images

A few days after your session (usually within 3–4 days), I’ll send you a little sneak peek — just a couple of images to give you a taste of what’s to come! These may also pop up on Instagram or Facebook, so feel free to tag yourself or share them with your friends and family.

Your full online gallery will be ready within 3–4 weeks. You’ll get access to view all the watermarked images from your session in a secure gallery. From there, you can select the images included in your original package, or if you love them all, you’ll have the option to upgrade and purchase the full gallery. I do my best to stick to the 3–4 week timeframe, but during especially busy periods, it might take an extra week or two — I’ll always keep you updated!

What happens if the weather forecast is not looking good and we have an outdoor session book?

Great question — and totally understandable, especially since we live in Melbourne where the weather likes to keep us on our toes! If the forecast isn’t looking great and we’ve got an outdoor session booked, no stress — we’ll just reschedule to the closest available day that works for you. I always keep an eye on the weather leading up to sessions, so we’ll be in touch ahead of time if things look a bit iffy. Flexibility is key when Melbourne’s in charge of the forecast!

Do you offer posed newborn sessions with props or use Photoshop to make changes?

I don’t do the traditional posed newborn sessions and I don’t bring along props — my style is all about capturing those natural, in-the-moment interactions that unfold between you and your baby. If you have a special blanket, toy, or family memento you’d love to include, I’m 100% here for it — those personal touches make your session even more meaningful.

When it comes to editing, I keep things real and natural. I lightly edit each image to correct colour, contrast, and exposure, and I’m happy to touch up small skin blemishes or little marks if you’d like. But I don’t do major changes — no reshaping bodies, changing hairstyles, removing tan lines, or swapping out wall colours. My aim is to celebrate you just as you are — beautifully, honestly, and naturally.

What if my kids are loosing their cool during the session and just will not cooperate?

Haha, you're definitely not alone in feeling that way! I totally get it — kids, especially the little ones, are rarely going to do what we expect, and the smallest thing can set them off. Don’t stress about the “what ifs” — we can take as many snack, drink, or tantrum breaks as needed. The great thing is, because we’re not trying to make them sit still and smile for ages or force them into anything, they usually end up having a pretty fun time! Plus, I’ve got a few sneaky tricks up my sleeve if things start to go a little haywire!

Yay, that’s awesome! Just get in touch and we’ll start planning the fun part.

Once I have a few details from you, I’ll send over a quote and your client contract through my online booking system. As soon as the contract is signed and you have paid a 50% deposit your session date will be locked in. The rest of the payment to due before the session is to take place or before the due date for for a newborn session.

I’ll also get a quick questionnaire from me so I can get to know you and your family a bit better. I love to know everyone's names before the session so I can feel more like a friend and not a stranger— that way, I can prepare to make this experience as comfortable and fun as possible for your unique family!
